Indonesia is now the world’s 10th largest economy contributing 2.3 percent of global economic output, according to a new report by the World Bank. The 2011 International Comparison Program (ICP), commented that Indonesia has now moved up six places and has overtaken much more developed countries such as Spain, South Korea and Canada. In the top nine are the United States, China, India, Japan, Germany, Russia, Brazil, France and Britain leaving the middle-income economies of Indonesia, China, India, Russia, Brazil and Mexico to account for 32.3 percent of world gross domestic product. The Philippines has also emerged as one of the strong performers in the region just behind China and Vietnam with its strong economic growth projected to accelerate to 6.4% in 2016.
